The Things We Cannot Change

There is so much happening in our world right now that is out of our control yet we feel the need or pull to try to change and control.  People are losing their jobs, some are struggling financially to pay their bills, others are working around the clock to make sure we are safe but also working for our essentials. Panic has overridden our entire country not to mention our world.  Lives have changed dramatically over the past few weeks and here we are trying to take some sort of control. We cannot control what happens next.  We don't know how long, where or who things effect.  The only thing we do know is now, the now that we are currently breathing. 

As humans we try to make sure we have control.  We want to make sure we have plan ABC and D planned ahead of time.  We want to ensure we keep ourselves and our loved ones safe. The thing is though, we cannot control what happens next.  Why do we try to stress ourselves over and over again with things that we cannot change or control? Instead, we should be focusing our energy and attention on the things we can control.  Our homes; we can keep them safe by cleaning them regularly and continuing with maintenance. Our family, we can make sure that we fuel their bodies with healthy foods and not junk and alcohol. Ourselves, we can make sure we take care of ourselves like we do our homes. Regularly shower/bathe, exercise, eat healthy, drink plenty of fluids, treat ourselves without feeling guilty. Most importantly, we can control our breath.  We can choose to take deep breaths when things get tough or when we get stressed.  We can meditate to help let go of our thoughts and instead just sit back without judgement. 

Let's start letting go of the things we cannot change and embrace where we are instead.  Embrace our now, embrace our breath and the experience alongside with it.
