Rush Hour

That annoyance that everyone hates, the one thing we curse at, time flies by and you're still stuck in the same damn spot you were twenty minutes ago.  Now you're thinking "what a waste of time I could be doing this..."  Rush hour.

Ever stop to wonder what everyone else is doing in that present moment while you're stuck sitting in traffic? Oh the things you could be getting done at home; laundry, cooking, dishes...geesh that sounds just as exciting as rush hour in itself.  Perhaps we are taking rush hour to be this undesirable thing but instead maybe we should be changing our perceptive on it? I don't mean rush hour just as traffic I mean that panic hour you have running around with your head chopped off feeling.  Rushing.

Why is it that we are always rushing? We are always in a hurry to get to the grocery store, get to work on time, grab a quick coffee the list is endless.  I don't understand why it is that we need to rush our entire lives.  Look at yourself as a kid "I can't wait to grow up..." Instead why don't we start recognizing the time we are serving currently and the benefits of it? We don't always have to be somewhere at an exact time.

We are wasting so many precious moments or even memories missed because we are so concerned of missing something else if we are late.  Does that even make sense? When you stop to think about why you are rushing or in a hurry does it have anything to do with you? Why exactly are you in such a hurry? Why not press that snooze button one last time and enjoy that 8 minutes of relaxation.  Why not read a chapter of your favorite book while you're stuck in traffic.  Why not let the kitchen stay dirty and go play outside.  Why not stop and enjoy what it is you are currently doing.  I don't think that we should have to obey time always.  Sometimes you just need to be present and stop rushing to be in the future.

“People parted, years passed, they met again- and the meeting proved no reunion, offered no warm memories, only the acid knowledge that time had passed and things weren't as bright or attractive as they had been.”
Jacqueline Susann, Valley of the Dolls
