A New Year; A New You

Every year we all decide to set ourselves up for essentially a disaster with these so called "New Years Resolutions."  We put so much thought and effort into what usually only lasts as a temporary fix.  But what if we changed things up a bit and did more of a New Years, New You?
We all have things that we want to change, make better, or fix and instead of putting this pressure on New Years we should actually just put forth these so called "resolutions" and make them more of a temporary full time change.  Take for example being fit.  That is one of the number one things we all want to work on is our appearance and how we can change it for the better.  Most people end up with a fitness goal and come February or March they've thrown in the towel and are right back to where they started; unhealthy eating habits, full of excuses and angry that they haven't lost any weight and look the same.

It isn't an easy task changing what you're used to and most comfortable doing.  Matter of fact there will be days where you will slip up but that is ok.  First things first: you need to come up with a plan. No not just a fitness plan, I mean a real plan.  A plan that involves you from the inside out.  Getting into the right mind frame is what is going to make your New Years, New You challenge a lot easier.

We can't ask ourselves to change physically if we haven't changed ourselves emotionally or mentally.  Working on yourself is never easy, often at times it can be painful, but when you get that glimpse of where you want to be it is so well worth the fight.  Become who it is you've always thought you wanted to be.  Be happy, be inspirational, be emotional, be that fabulous person that I see in you.

Now you're ready to begin your journey physically.  Working out and eating shitty will not do.  Don't sell yourself short either; drink that glass of wine, eat that cookie but become mindful of what it is you're putting in your bodies and stop indulging unnecessarily.  Five cookies is not something I would tell you to do but a cookie or treat a day, that is just fine by me!

Find something you enjoy physically doing; hiking, swimming, rowing, yoga, running, walking, sex'ing, DVD's, whatever it is find it and do it.  Be realistic about your fitness goal.  Start small and work your way to big. Minimum of 4 times a week.

Lastly, be accountable.  Don't use kids as an excuse.  Incorporate them into your exercise routine.  Don't bother blaming work either, the stress involved at work makes it completely necessary to workout.  Don't be lazy.  You can do it, you will succeed, you will become the better more healthier version of you. The only one in your way is you.
